Theresa's Cherry and Almond Cake

Ingredients
- 8oz Self Raising Flour
- 6oz Caster Sugar
- Vanilla Essence
- 6oz Butter
- 8oz Cherries
- 2oz Ground Almonds
- 8oz Marzipan
- 3 Eggs
- Salt
Method
- Beat together butter and sugar until pale and creamy.
- Add sifted flour and egg alternately.
- Add ground almonds and essence.
- Line and grease 8" tin. Put half the mixture in and smooth.
- Roll out marzipan and place on cake. Put rest of mixture on top and bake for 1 and a quarter hours at 150C-165C until golden.
