Salades Pour William

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe Pear per person
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tbsp Caster Sugar
  • 3 tbsp White Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp whipped Double Cream
  • Chopped Walnuts to Garnish
  • Lettuce

Method

  1. Beat sugar and egg together until thick and white, add vinegar.
  2. Place basin in pan with hot water and cook until thick, stirring. Remove from heat and leave to cool.
  3. Stir in lightly whipped cream and some pepper. Leave to chill.
  4. Peel and core Pears to place cut-side-down on lettuce leaves.
  5. Spoon over dressing and sprinkle on nuts.

Serve with brown bread and butter.

Editors Note: As this recipe bears a resemblance to "Prince William Salad" elsewhere in Sheilas notes, it is fairly safe to assume the identity of the titular "William" of this recipe.
