Apple Scones

Ingredients
Scones
- 1 medium cooking apple, finely diced
 - 8oz self raising flour
 - ½ tsp salt
 - 1 level tsp backing powder
 - 2oz butter
 - 2oz caster sugar
 - ¼ pt milk
 
Glaze
- 1oz demerara sugar
 - A little milk
 
Method
- Rub butter into sifted flour, salt and baking powder until bredcrumbs.
 - Add caster sugar and chopped apple.
 - Mix to a soft dough (but not sticky) with milk.
 - Roll out to an 8" round and mark into 8 wedges.
 - Place on baking sheet, brush with milk and sprinkle on demerara sugar.
 - Bake for 20-25 minutes at Gas 6, 200C, 400E.
 
Can also be made into round scones. Will freeze.
